About the MUN Conference

Model United Nations, also known as MUN, is an educational simulation of the real United Nations. The focus and objective of this conference is to provide a near-realistic United Nations experience for students around the globe, giving students a chance to learn diplomacy, international relations, politics & more. Students are given a respective country and assigned to a committee to debate on the issue given to them. While MUNs can be serious, they have their own various parts of fun activities during coffee breaks and such. Many also believe MUNs to be the step before attending actual conferences of similar nature. It’s thanks to such experiences that students pursue international relations as a career. And, if they’re not interested in pursuing a career of that nature, they’re given a chance to improve their social skills by being an active member during the conference’s time being, while making unforgettable memories with others.

FAQ

Model United Nations (MUN) is an academic simulation in which students represent the United Nations, discuss world issues, and develop solutions. Delegates speak on behalf of countries, debate and prepares a resolution paper, practicing diplomacy at a conference.

MUN sessions operate in a formal order. First, delegates speak in turn, then discussions open and countries present their ideas. Next, solution proposals are prepared in groups and resolutions are drafted. In the final stage, these resolutions are voted on and, if accepted, adopted as decisions.

The dress code for MUN is formal business attire. Male delegates typically wear suits, shirts, and ties, while female delegates wear jackets, dresses, or skirt-pants combinations. Sportswear, jeans, and sneakers are not acceptable.
